Seeking spiritual growth through obedience and discipline
God has an excellent plan for your life but to implement this plan, you must learn to walk in obedience and live a disciplined, God-centered life.
Is God’s
plan for you attainable?
You must Immerse yourself in the study of God's Word. Jesus stated, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed" John 8:31. To abide in God's Word, you must read it, study it, and meditate on it. It must become what your heart is filled of, so that when life squeezes you, the Word of God emerges. The degree to which you succeed in attaining God's purpose for your life is directly proportional to how much you submit to Jesus as Lord.
In Luke 6:46, Jesus asked, "Why do you call me 'Lord,
Lord,' and not do what I tell you?" Knowing about Jesus, becoming acquainted
with Jesus, or even addressing Jesus as "Lord" is never enough. Your
hearts must be obedience to what he says.
Obedience
will move you forward in your relationship with God. Obedience is more
important in the Kingdom of God than you may imagine since it is better than
sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22
Jesus himself was obedient. He took on the role of a servant, was fashioned in
the image of a human, and humbled Himself by becoming submissive to death, even
death on a cross. Philippians 2:8.
The
Cross will cost you everything.
In the darkest moments of Jesus’
life, He was kneeling in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying. He said, “My
Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will,
but as you will” Matthew 26:39. With the Cross before Him, blood dripping
from His brow, and the sins of the world before Him, He prayed. Nevertheless,
He was resolved to obedience and said, “Yet not as I will, but as you
will.” He went to the Cross and became the propitiation of men.
Psalm
119: 112 I am resolved to
obey your statutes to the very end.
Now that Christ dwells in our hearts, we too possess the ability to overcome through discipline and obedience.
