Striving for a spiritual mindset

Image
Romans 8:6 -   For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.   For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.   Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. In Romans 8:6, Paul highlights the importance of being spiritually minded above being motivated by the flesh, claiming that the former leads to life and peace. Being spiritually minded entails focusing on matters of the spiritual and nurturing spiritual desires rather than worldly desires. The natural man exists solely to gratify the desires of the flesh, whereas the spiritual Christian exists solely to gratify the things of the Spirit. So, what exactly does it mean to be spiritually minded?   1.   We are to live for the gospel.    As Christians our lives revolve around the gospel. The Holy Spirit dwells in us, creating a new life when we place our trust in Christ Jesus and His sacrificial work for our sins.

THE GREAT "I AM" IN CHRIST

Image
I am ACCEPTED: I am God’s child (John 1:12) I am Christ’s friend (John 15:15) I have been justified (Romans 5:1) I am united with the Lord and one with Him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17) I have been bought with a price—I belong to God (1 Corinthians 6:20) I am a member of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 12:27) I am a saint (Ephesians 1:1) I have been adopted as God’s child (Ephesians 1:5) I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18) I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins (Colossians 1:14) I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10) I am SECURE: I am free from condemnation (Romans 8:1,2) I am assured that all things work together for good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28) I am free from any condemning charges against me (Romans 8:31-34) I cannot be separated from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39) I have been established, anointed, and sealed by God (2 Corinthians 1:21,22) I am hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3) I am confident that the good work that

Who should we pray to?

Image
SHOULD WE PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT? Should believers to pray directly to the Holy Spirit without mentioning God the Father or Jesus Christ? The answer is no. Believers are not to speak directly, or pray, to the Holy Spirit and I will show you why. The Holy Spirit Does Not Speak of Himself For one thing, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to speak of Jesus Christ. He does not speak of Himself. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit was given to remind His disciples of the things which He said . But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you John 14:26  The Holy Spirit which was sent by the authority of God the Father was given to testify to Jesus Christ, not Himself In addition, we are told that He will not speak on His own initiative. Jesus said. Jesus made it clear that the Holy Spirit is His representative. He does not present His own ideas or speak on His initiativ

Pride Vs Humility

Image
Everyone likes to take selfies, whether of themselves, with someone they know or even with a celebrity. That is great. However, there are other types of selfies, and these are what I like to call selfies of pride. To  name a few, there is self-gratification, self-justification, self-denial, self-security, self-absorbed, self-righteous, self- perseverance, self-exaltation. just to name a few. Not only do these types of selfies hinder our spiritual growth, it takes our focus off God and places dependency on self. Ironic, the only “good selfie” is self-control, and that only comes from depending on God.  The real question is, how does God see these? When we pray do we ask God to rid us of pride or do we pray selfishly? Even when we try to conceal pride we must remember God sees the pride of our heart. Pride is SIN and if not dealt with can lead to shame, strife, ruin, and other negative consequences. Our goal is to please God, to exalt him and magnify him, not ourselves. Here are

The God Who Speaks

Image
Can you imagine living in a world in which God is silent, and all the questions about life go unanswered? Why am I here? Do I have a purpose in life? How can I understand a world filled with such beauty, yet, filled with such evil? What will happen when I die? Is there any hope for me after I’m gone or is this it? Thank God, he is not silent, and he has not left us alone with unanswered questions. God has in fact, revealed himself to us throughout history and has graciously made himself known to us. God desires a relationship with his creation God revealed himself to the Israelites in the Old Testament as part of the kind and enduring bond he established with them through his covenants with Abraham, Moses, and David. God described himself as "merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness" In the New Testament, the culmination of God's revelation is his Son, Jesus. God no longer speaks to us through prophets but through his son. (H

Replacing Fear With Faith

Image
Fear is one of the primary tools the enemy employs to harm us. Fear, anxiety, and worry can paralyze us with a heavy shadow of despair, dictating our every action and choice. With all the things happening around us today, wars, conflicts, persecution, violence, crime, natural disasters, economic uncertainty, unemployment, disease, and even death, no wonder it brings worries. Yet, reality tells us that all the time we spend on worrying nothing ever seems to change. Many are living under the weight of the "what if's" I believe that in order to understand fear and to overcome fears, we must first identify what they are. Fear is a tool Satan uses against us to keep our focus off God and ultimately destroy our lives. He studies our thought patterns and stirs up emotions within us that can control us. Sometimes, it is so strong that we can even make wrong choices. For years, I’ve struggled with fear but through time, as I’ve grown spiritually I realized that focusing more on th

Is the Holy Trinity Doctrine Correct?

Image
In Christian theology, every Christian will admit that the doctrine of The Holy Trinity is one of the most controversial doctrines that attract a heated debate either within Christendom or from other religions. This subject is undoubtedly complex and challenging to convey, even for many Bible preachers and professors. Someone once remarked that you needed a divine intellect if you wanted to mentally comprehend the Holy Trinity. The most challenging aspect of the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to fully comprehend it. The Trinity is a concept that no human being can entirely comprehend, let alone explain. Because God is immeasurably greater than we are, we should not hope to fully comprehend Him. According to the Bible. The Father is God, Jesus is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. In addition, the Bible teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts regarding the relationship of the Trinity's various Persons to one another, it i
